Product Reviews
I have 78k miles on my first set of these. They have travelled from Ohio to Florida at least yearly but do most of their driving in a rural/suburbian existence. They have been very impressive tires. First the longevity has been great. I hope to get another 10k out of them. I rotate my tires every 5k miles. Second traction has been very good. I haven’t had to drive them in deep snow often (over 6 inches) but they have performed well when I have. They are better than the Bridgestone I had on the SUV before but not as good as I had hoped. Wet weather has been excellent. Some hydroplaning as the miles have piled up but none early in their life. Dry traction has been perfect. Road noise has been very minimal. I was given the impression that these tires would improve gas mileage but I have not experienced that. My gas mileage stayed the same. Finally, cornering has been very good considering I drive a boulder. Before purchasing, I was leary of these tires as my first encounter with continental tires was less than stellar, but the reviews were good and I had a good recommendation. I would definitely recommend these tires.
All in all a very good tire. Have 40,000 plus miles on them now and much of it on long trips. Only slightly negative is in deeper Iowa snow they have a tendency to spin a bit when better traction is needed. Never out of control, just issues with starting and maintaining consistent traction. All other circumstances I would consider excellent to include tire longevity. Should be able to get another 15K on clear summer roads. Going to have to get new before winter. Might not get 70K but still a very good tire.
"Snow Traction" not observed. I just bought these tires yesterday, literally. So this is an "Initial Review". We've had Michelin, General, and now Continental tires on this vehicle and the most immediate thing noted was -- nothing but wind noise! Yes, I've already experienced all but one of the performance characteristics; yes, these tires are THAT good. So much for the preliminary report. I plan to submit a second review after I've had them rotated the first time, so watch for it! :-)
These Continental Crosscontact LX20 came with my Siverado when I bought the truck. In winter weather when my truck was either in AWD or 4 Wheel Dr in snow I got Stuck, in rain they Hydroplane. I cannot get rid of them fast enough, at 6000 miles I cannot find a tire dealer to trade them in. In last year's blizzard on east coast the truck got stuck, I had to dig it out, my Equniox has AWD with different tires it didn't get stuck. I would not recommended these tires to anyone, I've read all the posts about them. I would gladly sell them to anyone, they are Priced too High.
The Pacifica is a very heavy car and hard on tires. I loved the car and even more after I put these tires on it. Approaching 3 million miles at my best estimate. Best tires I had ever owned by far even after tread was half gone.
Possibly the worst tires for wear that I have ever bought. Had 4 wheel alignment done at purchase, rotate religiously and get 28K out of supposedly 70K tires and they didn't overwhelm me with performance in any way. Pay no heed to the manufacturer's warranty, all that means is that they will prorate your tires and you can buy the same crappy tires at a discount.
We could NEVER get more than 20,000 miles out of any tire on our Mitsubishi Endeavor LS full time AWD! The dealer we go to told us to stop fooling around and put the Continental Crosscontact on. We more than doubled the tire mileage! This is very good for a car known for chewing off tires! This is also a very thirsty car and this tire got our MPG from the teens to the twenties! They ran quiet! Handles like a rocket on rails! Excellent in snow, rain, ice! I just had our dealer order a new set for winter!
I bought them in Nov 2014 based on high marks by Consumer Reports. After 8 months of driving I'm extremely pleased with their quality and performance. Excellent tire at a reasonable price.
SIMPLY THE BEST. NO MORE MICHELINS. CONTINENTAL LX20: GREAT TIRES, QUIET, AND I WOULD RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. ALMOST 30,00O MILES ON OURS AND THEY STILL LOOK GREAT. WHEN THESE WEAR OUT, GUESS WHAT'S GOING ON. YES YES INDEED! CONTINENTAL LX20!
Great tire for your AWD SUV. Does great in snow and rain.
I recently moved from Washington State to Illinois and was in need of some good year round tires, especially because of the snow and ice. After some research, I decided to go with the Continental LX20 for my 2013 Toyota Highlander. Since my purchase, we've experienced a 17in snowfall, ice, wet roads and even a few long distance drives-through it all, these tires were up for the challenge. In the snow the tires made a tremendous difference on handling and maneuvering corners, they stick very well to the road and cut right through the snow-drove through about 4-5inches of standing snow with no trouble at all. Tires handle well on wet roads with no hydroplaning and as expected, they handle well on dry roads. During my business trips I noticed that there was very little road noise compared to the stock tires that were on there before and no vibration at all, very smooth ride. As far as the gas mileage-its tough to say how big of an impact the tires have on that especially because there are so many factors that play into (i.e. wind, rain, cold roads). I will say that I have noticed an uptick in mileage from time to time. Overall, I would recommend these tires to anyone-especially if you are going to encounter winter weather.
These are a great set of tires. They provide my family with a smooth luxurious ride.
If you are looking for a premium tire for the right price, then this is your tire. Comfortable, reliable, quiet, good traction. I hope it lasts as much as they say it does.
I can't ask for more from the tires other than lower price. I have been using them for the past two summers and a winter. They're quiet and traction is great. I would buy them again unless something more economical with similar quality comes along.
This tire is very hard and not suitable for the Toyota Highlander. Changes the comfort ride of the vehicle dramatically; you will get a very rough ride with these tires. Also there is no benefit in fuel efficiency with these tires either. I have had it for almost a year and definitely would not recommend to anyone looking for comfortable and controlled ride in a Toyota SUV.
I've gone through all four seasons with these tires, and they are fantastic. They grip well in pretty much any condition (snow/ice/rain), are quiet on the highway, and look great. Very happy with this purchase.
I got these to replace my stock Michelin set that cost much more. These tires have been great in all conditions. I was looking for all seasons that have decent snow/ice traction, and these provide exactly what I'm looking for. They are a bargain compared to other high-end models and worth the premium over bargain brands. I would recommend these to anyone who is looking for a good set of all-seasons.
Why did I not find this tire 200,000 miles ago? Absolutely no slip at start in rainy weather, great grip in snow and icy conditions. We put our 16 year old daughter in the old truck and she loves how everything always seems to grip. She prefers the old truck with these tires over her mom's all wheel drive SUV.
